*JOB DUTIES OF WELDER:*
Welder performs numerous activities required in repair, maintenance, and rebuilding of marine boats and barges.
Welder works 8 plus hour shifts in groups of 1 to 6 people depending upon job requirements and performing welding activities in all positions, climbing ladders and scaffolds, lifting heavy equipment including chain hoists and large wrenches from floor to waist to overhead, swinging 16lb sledgehammers in awkward positions, and performing gripping activities with both hands in utilization of cutting, burning, and welding activities.
Welder must possess the ability to work in awkward positions and function in a shipyard environment which includes extreme weather temperatures and air pollutants produced with welding, burning, blasting, and painting.
