Job Summary: The Electrical/Maintenance Technician is responsible for safely completing maintenance assignments to build, repair and/or maintain all equipment in good operating condition as quickly and accurately as possible, while keeping associated costs to a minimum to help meet Plant goals.
The Maintenance Electrician performs complex technical work, on a journeyman level, in the installation, operation, maintenance, modification, service and repair of electrical systems, equipment, fixtures and related electro-mechanical systems, in accordance with applicable Electrical Industry Codes.
The Electrician inspects and tests elements of electrical systems to locate and diagnose faults and malfunctions, performs required repairs through replacement of inoperative parts or re-wiring of circuits, and provides an estimate of repair(and/or replacement) costs beyond the capability to perform.
The Electrician also calculates branch circuit loads, interprets electrical wiring diagrams and schematics, and determines methods and requirements for wiring circuits.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Performs journeyman level electrical work in the installation, operation, maintenance, modification, service and repair of electrical systems, equipment, fixtures and related electro-mechanical systems by inspecting and testing elements of electrical systems to locate and diagnose faults and malfunctions, performing required repairs through replacement of inoperative parts or re-wiring of circuits in accordance with applicable Electrical Industry Codes, and providing an estimate of repair(and/or replacement) costs beyond the capability to perform.
Ensures that electrical distribution systems, including power supply lines up to 600 volts, are safe, meet the requirements for electrical power, and comply with applicable codes by maintaining, modifying, and repairing those systems; monitoring, installing or replacing, and adjusting transformers to desired rated capacities in conformance with applicable electrical code requirements; calculating branch circuit loads, interpreting electrical wiring diagrams and schematics, and determining methods and requirements for wiring circuits.
Maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing single and three-phase electric motors, determining the interchangeability of parts on non-repairable motors, salvaging those parts as a replacement parts inventory, and replacing starter switches, electrical leads, fuses, insulators, gears, bushings and bearings, and other inoperative components from that inventory.

Completes projects with minimal guidance showing a proactive attitude to minimizing equipment down time and lost production capability.
Troubleshoots mechanical devices in operation.
Dismantles and examines devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
Adjusts, repairs, or replaces defective parts.
Sets up and operates shop machinery such as drill press, grinders, band saws, cutting torch, welder.
etc.
Uses hand tools and pneumatic tools to modify or repair parts and equipment.
Installs new or repairs/modifies electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment as needed.
Improves reliability and uptime of all equipment.
Takes a proactive approach to equipment issues with a preventive maintenance mentality.
Operates forklift and aerial lift platform as needed.
Ability to understand and repair steam systems and monitor boiler operations.
Researches supplies, parts and tools needed to efficiently complete work orders.
Assists in identifying and maintaining an accurate inventory of parts by effective utilization of a CMMS.
Contributes to upkeep and updating of required paperwork such as records, maintenance logs, documents, manuals, drawings, PM logs, etc.
Supports the vision, mission, and guiding principles of the company.
Follows applicable Safety, Health and Environmental rules and guidelines while performing job duties.
Maintains departmental housekeeping standards.
Other duties as assigned Required Education and Skills Must have a high school diploma or equivalent plus completion of a certifying techncial training program in electrical maintenance or completion of an electrician's apprenticeship is required.
However, significant work experience in electrical maintenance beyond that required for the position may be substitued for the required education, technical training, or apprenticeship.
At least four years of progressively responsible experience in the electrical trade is required.
Experience must include a thorough working knowledge of National Electrical Codes for installation and maintenance of electrical systems.
Must have basic skills on use of computers: MS Office, Windows.
Requires the ability to safely operate a wide variety of tools such as hand tools, power tools, drill press, band saw, welder, cutting torch, etc.
The ability to interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, and electrical schematics is required.
Must be able to apply electrical formulas and conversion tables to job requirements.
The ability to diagnose problems and repair without schematics.
The ability to use electrical test equipment and small hand and power tools, such as wrenches, drills, soldering irons, volt-ohmmeters, amp meters, circuit testers, and vacuum and pressure gauges, is required.
Computer literacy is required.
Must be able to lift and transport materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis; prolonged standing and frequent bending, stooping, and reaching on a daily basis; and working in confined spaces.
Requires a full range of physical motion in order to operate manual and electrically-powered tools and electrical test equipment.
Scope of the position requires working with electrical systems, wiring, and currents that have the potential for serious injury if proper safety measures are not used.
Exposure to and use of chemicals, solvents, and cleaners common to electrical work may be hazardous and/or cause injury if specific instructions regarding their mixture, use, and disposal/storage are not properly followed.
All LOTO procedures must be followed at all times.
Must be able to read, communicate and comprehend written and oral instructions; read and comprehend safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, equipment files, etc.
Ability to effectively work at heights and in confined spaces.
Must have knowledge of mechanical systems including gear boxes, motors, air compressors, pumps, AC, DC, drive troubleshooting, etc.
Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organization skills and self-starter motivation.
Prioritization skills in alignment with production priorities.
Continuous Improvement mindset and results oriented.
Must have math skills to add, subtract, multiply and divide and the ability to perform these operations to calculate equations for weight measurement, volume, and distance, etc.

Must have manual dexterity sufficient to operate a wide variety of hand tools, hand trucks, forklift, mechanical platforms and lifts, bench tools, welders, saws, drills etc.
